Just Friends?

Just Friends?

You say that you like me,
But that we're just friends;
Can I feel the same?
Well I think it depends:
Can I quit breathing fast
Each time you appear?
Will my heart stop its pounding
Whenever you're near?
I'd like to feel nothing,
And get rid of the thrill.
I wish I'd stop loving you,
But I don't think I will.

Invisible

Invisible

I see you at school
And you glance my way,
Passing in the halls
In your ordinary day.
But anytime
Your eyes meet mine
Is a day so rare,
A day so fine.
Just another face,
I’m nothing to you;
You look but don’t see;
You haven’t a clue...
That my heart is racing;
I’m trembling inside;
So much love for you
I’m trying to hide.
You smile at others;
You pass me by;
I’m invisible,
And I want to cry.

My Kitten Won't Stop Talking

My Kitten Won't Stop Talking

My kitten won't stop talking.
She just prattles night and day.
She walks around repeating
nearly everything I say.

My kitten never says, "Meow."
She never even purrs.
She mimics me instead
in that annoying voice of hers.

She waits for me to speak,
and then she copies every word,
or begs me for a cracker,
or says, "I'm a pretty bird."

I'm not sure what to do, and so
I simply grin and bear it.
She's been this way since yesterday;
that's when she ate my parrot.

My Dad's a Secret Agent

My Dad's a Secret Agent

My dad's a secret agent.
He's an undercover spy.
He's the world's best detective.
He's the perfect private eye.

He's a Pinkerton, a gumshoe,
He's a snoop and he's a sleuth.
He's unrivaled at detecting
and uncovering the truth.

He's got eyesight like an eagle.
He's got hearing like a bat.
He can out-smell any bloodhound.
He's as stealthy as a cat.

He can locate nearly anything
with elementary ease.
But no matter how he looks and looks
my dad can't find his keys!

I Wrote Myself a Letter

I Wrote Myself a Letter

I wrote myself a letter.
I mailed it right away.
And, sure enough, the carrier,
delivered it today.

I couldn't wait to get it.
I nearly had to shout.
I quickly tore the envelope
and pulled the letter out.

I anxiously unfolded it
but now I must concede,
I'm clueless as to what it says.
I haven't learned to read.

I'm Learning To Play the Piano Today

I'm Learning To Play the Piano Today

I'm learning to play the piano today.
Tomorrow I'll learn the guitar.
The day after that I'll get good on the drums,
so I can become a big star.

The next day I'll learn how to sing and to rap,
and practice some dancing techniques.
And, that way, I'm sure to be famous and rich
in no more than one or two weeks.

I just told my mother my excellent plan,
explaining the millions I'll earn.
She told me that, firstly, I'll need to learn patience.
So, how long will that take to learn?

Oh My Darling

Oh My Darling, Frankenstein
(Sung to the tune of Clementine)

Oh my darling,
Oh my darling,
Oh my darling,
Frankenstein.
How you pillage
in the village,
very scary
Frankenstein.

Your creator
was a doctor
in a castle
near the Rhine.
On a slab
inside his lab
you were constructed
Frankenstein.

Arms and legs and
head and torso
that the doctor
did combine.
Bolts of lighting,
very frightning,
gave you life dear
Frankenstein.

Then you rose up
from the table
with a bellow
and a whine.
You went lurching,
simply searching
for some dinner,
Frankenstein.

When the townsfolk
saw you coming
you sent shivers
down their spines.
So they chased you
with their pitchforks
and their torches
Frankenstein.

You escaped
into the forest
where you hid
amongst the pine.
While the doc, he
did concoct me,
yes a bride
for Frankenstein.

We were married
in the castle,
and forever
you'll be mine.
We're a creature
double-feature,
oh my darling,
Frankenstein.

What It Takes To Be A Good Friend

This poem is about what it takes to be a good friend. So many times friends are not true friends so this is a poem about what it takes to be a good friend.

What It Takes To Be A Good Friend
by Jwbrnco1

A good friend is always kind,
Should always speak their mind,
Their compassion should never end,
That's what it takes to be a good friend.

A good friend is there for you,
They are real, they are true- blue,
Their compassion should never end,
That's what it takes to be a good friend.

A good friend will be there when you marry,
A heart full of memories, they will carry,
Their compassion should never end,
That's what it takes to be a good friend.

They'll be there if your mother dies,
They'll weep with you when you cry,
Their compassion should never end,
That's what it takes to be a good friend.

If a good friend you do find,
Make sure they treat you kind,
Understanding they shouldn't lack,
And they would never stab you in the back,
On top of everything always remember,
A best friend is forever.

Hurting In The Present For Persevering The Past

This poem is about my ex- boyfriend that I loved with all of my heart. Then he dumped me and left me for another girl. And I still have feelings for him and I know that he hurt me but I just can't let go of the past and it is killing me inside. I can't seem to rid my memories of us.

Hurting In The Present For Persevering The Past
by Breanna Martinez

Now that you're gone it seems I long for you day and night
As I reminisce of your kisses as you held me tight
I never dreamt that you would leave
I thought that you would be here to stay
I cried my self to sleep when I heard you say
" Can we just be friends? "
Your words tore me apart, as you stole my heart
You left me stranded, no where to go , no one to turn to
In that situation that selfish person would be you
It seems as if you didn't care, about me nor my feelings
as you left me in despair
I start to cry whenever I hear your name,
as your voice repeats in my head

"Can we just be friends?"
I ask myself every day, Was it because of me?
But how? I never loved some one with a love so deep
I sit here now alone and depressed
Wondering if you feel my loneliness
Just then I start to tremble because I know that the answer is no
You left me because you loved her so
Wishing things were as they were
Before I lost you, before her
But. since my love was so strong I strived and no matter what hung on

It's been a while, at least a month and a half
You could even call it the past
And still to this day I still hear you say
"Can we just be friends? "
Although it's hard, I now know that you weren't the one.
And it is time for me to move on
So when you crawl back and ask
"Can we be more than just friends? "
You'll see me sigh, them give my reply.

"Though I have awaited this day for so long,
what you did was just wrong.
All the pain that you put me through,
my conclusion is that the fault was on you.
You had your chance, I just don't feel the romance.
It was your loss and my gain, sorry to say,
but my feelings just aren't the same"

Just then I start to cry because I know that my words are lies,
deep down I know I desperately want him back
But I am not going to give in this time
I've learned from my pain that I am not going to get hurt again
Now I say to you, " Sorry, this is the end,
We are just friends"
So in words short and few, "We're through! "

No more longing for the past that I once endured
The only thing it brought me was suffering and hurt
Now I'll just wait to see what the future has in store
And not wait around for him anymore.

We Will Be Together Again

My mom wouldn't let my boyfriend and me be together, so I wrote this poem to tell my boyfriend how much I love him. It also is to tell him that we will be together again.

We Will Be Together Again
by Wishing

Not holding you in my arms is tearing me apart.
Being away is something I never imagined from the start.
I never thought we'd fall in love, so mad.
I never realized life without you would be so bad.
The gentle reassurance in your hand
led me away to a make-believe land.
Now my heart can't resist, but to yearn for your warmly embraced kiss.
And being with you is something I miss.
The things I'd give to have you in my arms -
To just hold you close and protect you from harm.
They said it will never work because of our age;
To them my love for you was just a phase.
When they came in our world and tore it apart,
It soon became a broken-promise land of the heart.
They don't know what we've been through,
How much you love me and I love you.
This can't be over; we're still not through.
There's so much we haven't shared - so much we promised to do.
I don't know how to hide my love enough so it doesn't show.
I can't hold back and refuse to let go.
If they only knew how you made me feel,
With all the problems you helped me deal.
How you taught me I was much more than I had ever thought -
All of the Joy, Happiness, and Love to me you brought.
You showed me I was beautiful outside and in,
And showed me true love time and time again.
One day I will return to you all you have given me,
In some shape or form; soon you'll see.
Send a message to my heart; promise me we will never part.
One day we will be able to be together every day,
And we won't have to worry what they say.
So when the time comes, promise me you'll take my hand and be with me
forever as long as we can.

I Know I Can't Have You

This is a poem about a boy that I go to school with. I have had a crush on him for 3 years, and we have become really good friend. I am scared that if we move onto the next level of love we will loose our friendship - and that is a life-altering thing when you are 17 years old.

I Know I Can't Have You
by Princess

Everything was simple
Everything was fine
I knew I couldn't have you
And I knew why

I tried to move on
I dated other guys
But then we'd hang out
And I knew, to myself I lied.

You noticed me drifting
You said "please explain"
But, I didn't want to loose you
So, I tried to deal with the pain.

It's hard to be with you
It gets harder each day
When I look in your eyes
I feel my body floating away

I miss the way it used to be
You don't feel the change
You don't know I really love you
I'm sure to you, it's just a game

As I close my eyes tonight
I'll pray as I was taught to do
I'll pray that you realize that
I love you, but I can't have you

True Friend

Iam a senior in high school with graduation less than a month away. I wrote this to one of my best friends, who has been my best friend since kindergarten.

True Friend
by Rochelle Bue

Excitement and fear fill our hearts.
Soon a new way of life will start.
Thirteen years have almost past.
But in our mind the memories last.

We've been through it all.
And realized who are true friends are.
The one that was there.
When no one else seemed to care.

So as our senior year comes to an end.
I want to say, thanks for being a true friend.

The Wrong Way

On Halloween I met someone who changed my life. We started dating about two weeks after we met and things went well for almost two months. Then I was convinced by another friend (a guy friend) to break it off with him.

I did and that same day we talked for almost 7 hours about everything and how stupid I was. Today, we are such good friends that I treasure that more than a petty 8th grader "puppy love."

I know it will always be possible for me to have feelings stronger than friendship for him and maybe some day those will come back. But for now I am happy with him as my best friend.

The Wrong Way
by RainDreamer

The wrong way, no one ever does this,
We're the best of friends but at one time longed to kiss,

We have done things in opposite array,
But for us maybe God intended it this way.

I ended it all with following words from a friend,
From a pretend friend, who wanted my world to end.

You were my world, each breathe I took, everything I dreamed,
A friendship shouldn't come from this, but amazingly through the dark it beamed.

Maybe my mistake was some sign,
That you were meant to just be a great friend of mine.

I am feeling happy that we are still so close,
Even though we don't shared what I wanted most.

For now I understand what I have gained from all this,
A special friend, someone who for not one moment do I want to miss.

A Soul Saved, A Heart Broke

Ihave found poetry to be a place for self- expression and emotional release. I wrote this poem on a rainy afternoon, the very day after seeing the love on my life - for the last time.

This poem is about the very meaning of finding love, only to lose it.

A Soul Saved, A Heart Broke
by Morgan Le Fay

this juliet was bleeding
her soul's bright fire dim
in a life of sorrows
it was sink or swim

on the shore she saw him
a romeo, prince of the night
against all odds she reached out
and turned from garish light

then he pulled her from the tide
saved the dying maid
she afraid to love him
and yet by her side he stayed

with blind faith she followed
into his shadow she fell
seduced by black and velvet
drunk of passion's spell

a day spent long in bliss
a moment meant so much
and no more was this juliet
starved from love's sweet touch

then the darkness overcame
in silence he left her there
never saw her tears fall
or heard her heartstrings tear

left alone in pain
once again she did bleed
shackled by other's power
longing to be freed

once again, yet time was short
in twisted fate they met
in shaded seconds spent together
yet no where did they get

again ripped apart by time
and distance seals the fate
now all this juilet feels
is pain, despair, and hate

she cries without a tear shed
she lives without a soul
she curses the one she loves now
for everything he stole

'I love you' she did long to hear
but these were words he never said
and now this juliet lays weeping
and wishes she were dead

The End

Iwrote this poem after I realized that my friendship with my best friend was over. We had been fighting for a few months, and then after a day in school where we walked by and totally ignored each other, I knew we could never be friends again.

The End
by Dev

I turn the corner, and there you are,
While we both pretend not to see the other.
We keep walking, our eyes straight ahead,
And I'm grateful, as we pass one another.

We were best friends for one year,
A year of laughter, a year of tears.
In the short time of bliss,
We had promised to be friends for years.

But those years' have now been altered,
And the friendship has lasted just one.
I know that it is the end,
This is a friendship that will not be won.

You don't understand why it ended,
Or that I didn't want it to.
But sometimes in life,
You have to do what you have to do.

This was one of those cases,
I could no longer call you my friend.
I now know it can never go back,
And I have to realize, this IS the end.

You

This poem was the first poem that I wrote for my boyfriend. I was sitting in class one day, thinking about him of course, and I decided to write what I felt about him

You
by Ashley Mclean

The first thing I think of
When I think of you,
Is your wonderful smile.
The second would be your adorable laugh.
I could go on and on,
But the list would never end.

When I think of the short time
That we've been together
And of all of the happy memories we've already shared
It amazes me to no end
And I know that we were meant to be together.
I look at you and see overflowing love, hope, and joy
As well as charm, strength, happiness and dignity.
With all of these wonderful qualities
It's no wonder I love you so.

I Want You Back

Ibroke up with my boyfriend and as soon as I did it I realized that it was a mistake. I wrote him this poem to describe how I feel.

I Want You Back
by Jessica Kronaizl

you were always there for me
always by my side
I guess I couldn't see
with out you I just can't abide

those times I loved the most
were just talking with you
who would've known
now I'm all alone
and all I can do is think of you

I loved it when you held me
all safe and warm
I felt no harm could touch me
in your strong protecting arms

but then I messed up
I really don't know why
with you I broke up
and now I am sorry

all I want, is a second chance
I understand that's not easy to do
even if you won't give me a glance
I want you to know,
I'll always love you
